Professor Andy Long is currently Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at the University of Nottingham. For almost 30 years on he has worked on analysis and development of manufacturing processes for polymer composites, supported by numerous research awards from research councils, UK government and industry. Most recently he was Director of the EPSRC Future Composites Manufacturing Research Hub, leading a consortium including 10 UK universities and 22 companies. In 2006 he was awarded the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining Rosenhain Medal for distinguished contribution to materials science, and in 2014 was elected SAMPE Fellow for significant contributions in materials and process engineering. He has published over 350 papers and has supervised over 30 successful PhD students and 20 post-doctoral researchers.
